The Andhra Bank Retired Employees Association (ABREA) conducted its Triennial General Conference on August 23, 2026, in Hyderabad on a grand and colourful scale, with around 1,500 delegates and participants from across the country attending the event.
The conference was inaugurated by Sri S. C. Jain, General Secretary, AIBRF. Sri Suresh Chandra Teli, CGM (HR), Union Bank of India, addressed the gathering virtually.
On behalf of the Reception Committee, Sri B. S. Rama Rao, former Executive Director, Indian Bank, warmly welcomed the delegates. Sri Varanasi Krishna Murthy, President of ABREA and former General Manager of Andhra Bank, presided over the conference.
The conference discussed in detail various issues concerning retired bank employees and emphasised the urgent need for pension updation, which has remained a long-pending demand of retirees. The delegates also urged banks to bear the health insurance premiums of retired employees on humanitarian grounds, particularly in view of the steep increase in insurance premiums over the years.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Varanasi Krishna Murthy thanked the Union Bank of India Management for its proactive and positive approach towards addressing the concerns of retirees. He appreciated the joint coordination efforts of the Union Bank and erstwhile Corporation Bank Retirees’ Associations in taking up common issues with the Management and facilitating their amicable resolution.
Several speakers appreciated the efforts of ABREA in effectively raising retirees’ concerns with the Management and resolving issues through cordial dialogue and sustained engagement.
ABREA has also been actively contributing to society under its motto, “Sharing & Caring.” The Association has undertaken more than 150 charitable and social service programmes across the country, spending around ₹1.40 crore through voluntary contributions from retired employees.
Sri NSN Reddy, General Secretary, ABREA, stressed the importance of “Giving Back to Society” and called upon retirees to continue contributing to society through service and collective action.
A galaxy of former bank executives and trade union leaders participated in the conference and appreciated the activities and achievements of ABREA.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sri N. V. Ramana, Deputy General Secretary, ABREA.
