Baltimore, Maryland (MediaBoss Network): The 19th American Telugu Association (ATA) Conference and Youth Convention concluded with resounding success after three days of vibrant cultural celebrations, community engagement, business networking, leadership forums, and world-class entertainment at the Baltimore Convention Center from July 31 to August 2. The landmark event brought together thousands of Telugu people from across North America and around the world, reaffirming ATA’s role as one of the leading organizations representing the global Telugu diaspora.
The convention attracted an impressive gathering of political leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, technology innovators, educators, artists, writers, students, and community representatives. Their participation reflected the growing influence and achievements of Telugu people in the United States and across the world.
Among the distinguished guests were Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, Virginia Lieutenant Governor Ghazala F. Hashmi, and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, whose presence added significant national and international prominence to the convention. Representatives from major Telugu organizations, including TANA, NATS, TTA, TDF, and AAPI, also participated, highlighting the spirit of unity and collaboration within the Telugu-American community.
The three-day convention featured an extensive lineup of cultural performances, literary discussions, business and investment forums, youth leadership programs, community-service initiatives, and networking sessions. Designed to engage participants of all ages, the event celebrated Telugu language, culture, heritage, innovation, and entrepreneurship while strengthening connections between generations of Telugu Americans.
A particularly moving moment came when ATA honored Telugu men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces, recognizing their courage, dedication, and commitment to public service. The ceremony received a standing ovation and symbolized the community’s respect for those serving their adopted nation while remaining deeply connected to their cultural roots.
Governor Wes Moore praised the Telugu community for its remarkable contributions to technology, medicine, education, entrepreneurship, public service, and community development across Maryland and the United States. Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller inspired immigrant families by encouraging young people to pursue leadership while preserving their language, culture, and values. Virginia Lieutenant Governor Ghazala F. Hashmi shared her emotional connection to Hyderabad and called for greater civic participation, emphasizing the importance of representation and public service.
Addressing the gathering, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted Telangana’s rapid economic growth and invited overseas Telugu entrepreneurs and professionals to partner in the state’s development through investment, innovation, technology, and job creation. He encouraged the diaspora to contribute its expertise and global experience toward Telangana’s future progress.
Business and entrepreneurship emerged as key themes throughout the convention. Industry leaders, startup founders, investors, and corporate executives explored opportunities in artificial intelligence, healthcare, real estate, finance, technology, hospitality, and emerging industries, strengthening business ties between India and the United States.
The entertainment segment drew enthusiastic crowds with appearances by celebrated Telugu film personalities, including Dil Raju, Adivi Sesh, Rajendra Prasad, Naveen Polishetty, Muralidhar Goud, Varun Sandesh, Pooja Hegde, Ritu Varma, Ananya Nagalla, Divi Vadthya, Bheems Ceciroleo, and singer Sunitha. Telangana folk artists, led by Kasarla Shyam, Mittapalli Surender, Rasamayi Balakishan, and Janardhan Pannela, captivated audiences with energetic performances that showcased Telangana’s rich cultural heritage.
The grand finale featured an unforgettable live concert by Academy Award-winning composer M.M. Keeravani, whose timeless compositions created an emotional and memorable conclusion to the convention. The spectacular performance brought together audiences of all generations in a celebration of Telugu music and cinema.
The successful execution of the convention reflected months of meticulous planning and the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. Under the leadership of ATA President Jayanth Challa, Conference Convener Sridhar Banala, the Board of Trustees, executive leadership, committee members, volunteers, sponsors, and donors, the event was organized seamlessly and earned widespread appreciation from attendees.
During the closing ceremony, ATA officially announced Dallas, Texas, as the host city for the 20th ATA Conference in 2028, generating excitement for the organization’s next flagship event.
More than a cultural gathering, the 19th ATA Conference and Youth Convention served as a powerful platform for leadership, public service, business collaboration, youth empowerment, and the preservation of Telugu heritage. The event demonstrated the strength, unity, and growing global influence of the Telugu diaspora, leaving an enduring legacy and setting a new benchmark for future ATA conventions.
