The Telangana Development Forum (TDF) organized a free cancer awareness session, cancer screening, and general medical camp at KCR Nagar, Siricilla. This initiative was conducted in association with Swastava Cancer Care NGO, MNJ Cancer Care Institute, and the Siricilla District Government Health Department under the leadership of TDF India President Rajeshwar Reddy.
Dr. Cheturvedi led the cancer awareness session, explaining to the public the causes of cancer and how it can be prevented, detected, and treated. Rajeshwar Reddy, in his address, highlighted the focus of TDF on its “Arogya Seva Project” aimed at making Telangana a healthier state. He emphasized that cancer is the second leading cause of death, with more than 40% of cases linked to modifiable risk factors such as smoking, alcohol use, and poor diet. Early detection and treatment, he stressed, can save lives. Reddy also advocated for natural farming in Telangana, pointing out that chemical farming is a major cause of cancer. He expressed appreciation for the government’s food safety inspections and called for safer food practices as a key to public health.
TDF India Women Chairperson, Sri Thimmaiahgari Vani, urged women to participate in cancer screening and emphasized that protecting the environment is essential to cancer prevention. She also requested the public to avoid using plastic in daily life.
Siricilla DMHO, Dr. Vasanth Rao, praised the efforts of TDF, Swastava Cancer Care, and MNJ for providing cancer awareness and free medical services to the public. Chief Guest, Sri KK Mahender Reddy, commended the role of TDF in the formation of Telangana state and its continuous contributions to development. He encouraged women to take part in cancer screening for early detection, ensuring timely treatment. He also promised to present the suggestions made by TDF to the government for consideration.
A total of 500 people attended the camp, utilizing services such as general OP consultations, mammogram tests, cervical cancer tests, and oral cancer screenings, provided by expert doctors from MNJ and the local medical department.
The event was supported by Deputy DMHO Angelina Alfreda, Program Manager Nayeem Jahan, and a team of doctors including Dr. Sneha, Dr. Rekha, Dr. Deepthi, Dr. Basha, Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Satyanarayana, and Dr. Satish.
