The recent floods in Khammam district have left a trail of devastation, with many residents recounting the same heart-wrenching stories. An unexpected natural disaster has uprooted countless lives, turning once-thriving neighborhoods into areas of despair. As the floodwaters recede, residents returning to their homes are left in tears, witnessing the damage inflicted by the deluge.
In response to this dire situation, the Telangana Development Forum (TDF) has stepped in to provide much-needed relief. Comprising individuals who, despite living abroad, maintain a strong connection to their native Telangana, TDF has organized flood relief activities to assist those affected. In the villages of Palair and Naikunigudem, located in Kusumanchi mandal, Khammam district, TDF volunteers distributed food and essential groceries to families who lost everything in the floods caused by overflow from the Palair reservoir.
Led by TDF India General Secretary A. Vinil, the volunteers visited the flood-affected areas to provide immediate relief. The gesture was met with immense gratitude from the victims, many of whom expressed their appreciation for the timely support. In addition to food and groceries, the victims requested help with school supplies, basic medicines, clothes, and repairs to their home electrical systems, which were damaged due to the submersion of their houses.
TDF India President Rajeshwar Reddy assured the victims that their requests would be fulfilled soon. He mentioned that TDF is collaborating with its chapters in various countries, including TDF-USA, TDF-Canada, TDF-UK, and TDF-Europe, to raise more funds for additional relief efforts. He extended his heartfelt thanks to all the country chapters and the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who contributed to the relief camps during these challenging times.
Through this initiative, TDF has demonstrated a strong sense of community and solidarity, showing that even from afar, people can come together to support their homeland in times of need.
